Your support of this event helps our agency provide desperately needed services to child victims of abuse and their families, while also conducting community outreach and child abuse prevention education throughout Adams County working towards a time in which children are safe and families are strong in Adams County. The larger the circle of awareness regarding child abuse and neglect, the more we can do to ensure the safety and health of our community’s children!
In the words of the children and families Adams County Children’s Advocacy Center supports:
- “ They helped me out with my problems and understood what I was going through. I really appreciate their help a whole lot.”
- “Everyone was kind. My daughter felt safe”
- “I could talk to the lady and not be judged for anything I said while I was there. I felt safe to talk about what went on that made me feel like I wasn’t safe.”
- “Everyone was friendly and understanding. The atmosphere was opening and welcoming. I felt comfortable and safe.”
Our work continues- In the first six months of 2020, at ACCAC:
- 163 children and their family members received advocacy & case management services—helping them to obtain support and services to meet their immediate needs and begin to heal from the trauma of abuse.
- 98 children told of their experience via Forensic Interviews— providing children with a safe environment in which to talk is the first step in healing.
- 42 children were provided trauma-focused mental health services at our Center. Trauma therapy is critical to eliminating the damaging emotional, educational, and physical consequences of child abuse.
- 1,257 children and adults participated in community-based child abuse prevention education— giving them the tools to recognize, respond appropriately, and report incidences of alleged child abuse.
